Yes, the OneSmartWorld 4D-i® psychometric instrument is both reliable and valid . The psychometric instrument was developed and tested by a team of leading Canadian organizational psychologists under the direction of Bob Wiele, founder, and President of OneSmartWorld. The 4D-i® is the first psychometric instrument ever to be approved by Canada’s Scientific Research and Development program. It meets the requirements of test-retest reliability as well as face and concept validity. Reliability means that if you were to take the questionnaire again with three months your results will be likely very similar.
It takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete the instrument. You can access all your interactive results and resources as soon as you have completed the questionnaire, 24x7, with no expiry date.
The OneSmartWorld 4D-i® instrument assesses your preferences for using four core dimensions, different mindsets, and strategies of high-performance thinking – creativity, understanding, decision-making and personal spirit. The instrument and toolkit are all designed to help you improve your performance anytime you need to think things through, solve a problem or work in a team. The OneSmartWorld 4D-i® instrument contains two sections. The first section asks you to identify your thinking strategy preferences in 45 sets of two paired choice statements. The second section asks you to rate your level of agreement with a set of 24 self-descriptor statements. The OneSmartWorld 4D-i® assess your preferences – what motivates you – not your competency or skill. It is designed to help you understand the mindsets and thinking strategies you like to use and pinpoint which ones to develop that will take your performance and success to the next level.

Most people only ever do the instrument one time. They use is as a toolkit to work smarter by shifting mindsets to meet different needs and challenges and do the right thinking at the right time. Anyone can choose to do it again to see if it reflects any changes in preferences. We recommend anyone wait a minimum of three to four months, before choosing to purchase and do the OneSmartWorld 4D-i® again. From our test-retest research, people’s results don’t usually change in the short term. If you are purposely working on upskilling your thinking skills or have changed job, your results may show a change over the longer term.
